At least, that’s what Andrés says in his docuseries “José Andrés & Family in Spain,” streaming on Discovery+ and now airing on CNN. Each episode focuses on a different territory, and as his daughters eat and learn about Spanish food, the audience eats (with their eyes) and learns, too. A rice dish made in a paella pan with pork belly — notably not true Valencian paella, according to José Andrés. For the 14th year in a row, supermarket chain Trader Joe's has released its Customer Choice Awards, spotlighting the products that its famously loyal shoppers love the most. The current reigning champion at Trader Joe's is the Chili & Lime Flavored Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips, which the supermarket's copywriters describe as "spicy, ire-zest-tible little scrolls made from stone ground corn masa." These were inducted into the newly created Trader Joe's Product Hall of Fame. They include the Mandarin Orange Chicken, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Peanut Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets, Unexpected Cheddar and Soy Chorizo. Morten Toft Bech, the founder of a startup that makes plant-based meat alternatives, brought the animals in protest. Meat lobbies argue that plant-based products have stolen the concept of meat without matching its taste and nutrition standards, tarnishing the integrity and cultural importance of meat. It tends to argue that plant-based meat alternatives shouldn't be allowed to use meaty terms at all because, put simply, they aren't meat. Meat bodies want startups to come up with new terms for plant-based food that imitates meat. Both meat organizations and plant-based companies told Insider they encouraged a healthy, balanced diet.
Fast food chains have experimented with plant-based proteins for years with limited success. Plant-based meat is too expensive and adds too much complexity for widespread fast food adoption, an analyst said. Despite some exceptions like Burger King's Impossible Whopper, plant-based fast food menu items have largely been featured as limited-time offerings. It's "very hard" to convert meat eaters to plant-based meat, he said. Plant-based meat isn't likely to disappear from fast food menus, but it's also not going to replace beef.

CNN —As iconic Thanksgiving dishes go, stuffing is likely runner-up only to turkey as the dish most often on the dining table. Classic bread stuffing and variationsA traditional bread and herb stuffing is a fan favorite for many reasons. Think of this basic stuffing recipe as a jumping-off point for bringing more main dish energy to the table (especially if you’re considering a turkey-free or plant-based Thanksgiving this year). In place of meat-based ingredients, nuts, seeds and dried fruit can also bring in flavor and textural interest. Chestnut stuffing was once as popular as oyster stuffing, as the meaty but tender nuts give the dish a subtly earthy and sweet undertone.

It’s a history that older Tucson Chinese residents say they have spent years trying to make more visible. To promote the endeavor, she organized the inaugural Tucson Chinese Chorizo Festival.
